Instructables.com is a safe bet for any hobbyist project. It’s a free resource with lots of instructions. I did a search and found a few dozen articles, although probably only a quarter or so will be exactly related to what you aim to find.

I used to love my little circular Hornby clockwork train set just as much as my beautifully laid out dolls house.

Many a time I would drive toy cars up to the dolls house and onto the train set and never worried that I was playing with what were essentially toys for boys.

I can imagine more ladies saying something similar to this but I doubt many of you gents will actually confess to playing with dolls etc. unless of course it was action man ?

There’s Masquerade Miniatures in Chelmsford (Moulsham Mill Centre, Parkway, Chelmsford) who do doll’s house furniture and I’m pretty sure they do dolls houses too

There’s another in Mersea, I think it’s just called the Mersea Dolls House Shop

As far as I can remember there’s another in Coggeshall called Goodies (I think that’s how it’s spelt)

I’ve got a 20 year old Dolls House complete with miniature furniture and have stored it in my spare bedroom as I don’t have anywhere else to put it.

As my rented property dates back to the 17th Century and only has a Coal Heating System the temperature in the house during the winter months doesn’t get as warm as that of Modern Central Heated Property.

Anyway back to the Dolls House…I’ve noticed in the past that mould spores have formed on the fabric of the sofas and soft furnishing which I’ve removed with a damp sponge and left to dry.

However, during the summer I’ve noticed some mould spores on the carpet, wallpapers and external walls.

Has anyone had this trouble before with there Miniature Dolls House/Furniture and what have they done to remove/prevent this from occurring again??

The chlorine in bleach will kill mold, and there are various products that contain bleach and water or other things but of course too much exposure will also bleach out the colors or fade them, as well as making fabrics less strong.

I’d guess that drying out the whole dollhouse (or just parts) really well for a fairly long time would also kill the mold, using heat, fans, etc., in a non-humid area.

Or you could sand or cut off parts and patch or re-do, then perhaps seal once they’re very dry (or paint).

It’s possible that you could put the whole thing in some kind of container that would help keep the humidity out too, but in this case only after you’ve thoroughly dried everything perhaps. Even a box should help (if there isn’t so much humidity that it would be absorbed by the cardboard then held next to the dollhouse, etc). Or perhaps a large plastic bag (for xmas tree, even) but again you wouldn’t want any residual moisture trapped inside. You could also put “dessicants” inside the containers to help absorb any moisture that does get in… there are various types of those.

if you got the sims 3 or if not get it and plan your layout with the sims then use that planing to plan your dolls house for real
